Operating principle
Extraction takes place downward through the perforated plate into the filter unit integrated underneath the table. Because the entire work surface is under extraction, full flexibility is preserved on top - regardless of where the welding is currently taking place.
Dust-laden air is cleaned in three stages: first by the spark arrester, then by the G2 filter panel and finally by the F8 filter cartridge. Coarse particles are caught in the integrated dust drawer and can be emptied without tools.
Extraction performance is infinitely adjustable and can be matched to the welding task at hand - saving energy while maintaining maximum effectiveness at the point of origin.
Applications in detail
Welding workstations
The FLT-1608 is designed as a full-fledged welding table. The perforated plate with a 50x50 mm grid and 6x16 mm system accommodates all common clamping and positioning systems. The integrated downdraft extraction captures welding fumes directly at source - without flexible hoses or capture hoods that need to be repositioned.
Cobot cells
Collaborative welding cells with cobots rely on a stable, precisely surveyable work zone. The FLT-1608 offers 2,000 kg static load capacity and a defined extraction area that integrates with cobot programming without requiring separate ducting.
Industrial and trade workshops
For metalwork shops, steel fabricators and maintenance operations, the FLT-1608 delivers a complete welding workstation solution: a table with extraction, spark protection and filter stages that does not require a central extraction system. Setup reduces to a power outlet and free floor space.
Training centers and schools
In vocational schools and inter-company training centers, apprentices must be able to weld safely under supervision. The decentralized extraction keeps welding fumes out of the breathing zone and helps comply with the heightened occupational health requirements for young workers under German TRGS 528 and TRGS 905.
Safety and occupational health
Welding fumes have been classified as carcinogenic to humans (Group 1) by the IARC since 2017. Welding alloyed steels can additionally release chromium(VI) and nickel compounds, which are among the particularly regulated hazardous substances under German TRGS 905.
The most effective protection is capture directly at the point of origin. On the FLT-1608, welding fumes are extracted across the full perforated table surface and immediately separated in the integrated filter below. A dedicated spark arrester in the first filter stage prevents glowing particles from reaching the filter media.
The integrated filter stack (spark arrester, G2 filter panel, F8 filter cartridge) is designed for typical welding operations. For special requirements - such as chromium(VI)-laden processes subject to recirculation bans under TRGS 560 - we provide advice on the appropriate system configuration or recommend a stationary extraction system with downstream filtration.
Delivery and setup
The table ships fully assembled. On site, only the footprint area needs to be prepared, the mains supply (400 V / 50 Hz) connected and the table leveled via the adjustable feet.
Replacement filter media (spark arrester, filter panel and filter cartridge) are available in the WALTER shop at any time - keeping the system ready for operation even under heavy use.
Frequently asked questions
Is the FLT-1608 a welding table or a perforated table?
Both. The terms are used interchangeably. The FLT-1608 is a perforated table with a 6x16 mm system on a 50x50 mm grid - the drilling pattern common to modern welding clamp systems - and at the same time a full-fledged welding table with an industrial-grade work surface and integrated extraction.
Do I need additional ducting or a central extraction system?
No. The extraction unit is integrated into the table itself and is ready to use plug and play. Once connected to a 400 V outlet the table is operational - no central extraction system or ducting is required.
What volume flow is available?
The integrated extraction delivers up to 3,000 m³/h, infinitely adjustable. The FLT-1608 is sized for TIG, MAG and stick welding on steel components at workshop scale.
Which filter stages are installed?
The filter system is built in three stages: stage 1 is a spark arrester, stage 2 is a G2 filter panel and stage 3 is an F8 filter cartridge. Replacement filter media are available separately in the WALTER shop.
Can the rear wall be removed?
Yes. The rear wall and both side walls can be detached by loosening a few hex socket screws so that oversized workpieces can be placed on the table. Extraction remains fully operational.
Is the table height adjustable?
Yes. The sturdy steel tube legs allow the working height to be set between 780 and 1,020 mm. Floor unevenness can additionally be compensated via the adjustable machine feet.
